Remember Me?

I’m the woman you tried to break

You were bold

You came to me in broad daylight, in our home

Despite the fact that I had a baby in my arms

You came to me when I was weak

While grieving my brother’s diagnosis

You sliced me across the heart with deceit

You rained hatred down on me

Insisting I was your enemy

An Oscar nomination

A standing ovation

For a union so false

You fooled us all

Remember me?

I’m the woman you tried to break

And guess what

I broke

And now I’m woke

Aware of blokes like you

You didn’t steal my joy

Or cover my smile

You didn’t smother my laughter

Or stifle my voice

All you did was destroy any and all

Bridges that lead back to you

You saved me

You did me a favor

You took that bullet for me

You gave me a gift

You gave me peace

Excuse me

Remember me?

I just want to say

Thank you
